Since 1989, Robbins Landscaping has grown from a one-man, one-truck licensed contracting business to a multidimensional landscaping firm offering clients landscape design/build, management, and irrigation services. Despite the growth and change of over thirty years of experience, the team at Robbins Landscaping, Inc. has consistently impressed our clients by creating landscapes that make them happy. Our mission at Robbins Landscaping is to enhance the value of landscapes through thoughtful design, careful installation and conscientious service, and we strive to achieve this mission for every client’s property.
Doug Robbins started turning earth, water and imagination into art at age 12. Under the watchful eye of his father, Doug developed basic landscaping skills during the hot Virginia summers. Like many ambitious young kids, Doug also maintained lawns and gardens throughout his neighborhood during high school and in the early years of college.
After spending a couple of years working for a major soft drink producer, Doug returned to his roots, the landscaping business. Through the years, members of the Robbins team have worked hard producing award-winning work and fulfilling Doug’s vision of being the landscaping company of choice in Central Virginia through the development of a truly professional and dedicated landscape design, installation and maintenance company.
Because of our commitment to attentive service, client relationships, green practices and community involvement Robbins Landscaping, Inc. is considered one of Virginia’s premiere landscaping firms.
Jennifer has been a part of the Robbins Landscaping team since 2013. Although her official title is Office Administrator, she is involved in all aspects of the business and has been a Certified Horticulturist since 2016. She is the go-to on all things technology and the chief officer of First Impressions as the primary point of contact for our existing and prospective clients. Jennifer loves to watch the seasons change and the changes in responsibilities and focus that come along with it.
Doug Robbins started Robbins Landscaping, Inc. in 1989 and has worked hard ever since to build his one-man landscaping business into a multi-faceted Landscaping Firm. After graduating from Mary Washington College with a degree in History, Doug worked for a major soft drink distributor for a few years before deciding to go out on his own doing what he loved. He has since become a Virginia Certified Horticulturist and gained invaluable experience in the Green Industry and as an entrepreneur.

In Remembrance of Tom
In the Spring of 2020, we lost one of our own. Tom Stuart was called to be with the Lord on Wednesday Morning, June 10th, 2020 at his home with family by his side. Tom had been bravely battling cancer.
Tom was a great friend and a tremendous asset to our team since 1997. Robbins Landscaping would not be what it is today without his contributions and loyalty for over 23 years. As our chief designer and creative artist, he believed in designing simple and classic spaces not only to meet the client needs but also create a happy place for plants. Tom had a very dry and sarcastic sense of humor and genuine belly laugh that stood above his otherwise soft-spoken demeanor. He had a factual approach and unfiltered honesty; an insatiable sweet tooth but took no sugar in his tea. Tom had a great love for plants and spoke of them as if they were friends, taking every opportunity to spend his professional and personal time enjoying and enhancing green spaces.
He was always eager to teach his horticultural skills and experience to our crews. He would even use his vacation time learning Spanish so he could better communicate with our Latino team members. His loyalty to his church, the Robbins family and our clients was unmatched. Tom’s simple, creative, and effective approach to design will live on here at Robbins Landscaping.
We will remember to look at things with an unfiltered and realistic approach.
We will remember to be still in green spaces, recognizing the ways we can enhance their beauty.
We will remember to think of ourselves less, without thinking less of ourselves.
To say he is missed is an understatement.
“We love our front yard! Leslee designed a beautiful garden, incorporating everything we asked for! The crew did a great job with plant installation and construction of the stone wall. We are very pleased!”
“How wonderfully fast the new landscape folks, Robbins, responded to my concern that my butterfly bush was pulling out of the ground! Could not believe how courteous and fresh faced the team was. I went out to thank them and also welcome them to our neighborhood. Many thanks for the new service.”
“Nicest people to work with. Great job! Always professional.”
“You have always been fair and honest with us. We appreciate that a lot. Some minor problems with plants- 1 died in the new backyard, but you have been good about replacements.”
“Your crew came out at the end of the last week and did a really nice job with the mulch. They did trim some ornamental grasses, pulled a dead shrub I had not thought to get rid of…and took care of a lot of leaves on the side of the house, which I hadn’t expected either. Tom called and left a message to see if we were happy. I had already intended to email, but I am definitely happy with the work. The attention to detail stands out. The grass is also in the best shape it has been since we moved in.”
“Both Chris and John and his crews were a pleasure to work with: polite and professional!”
“All I can say is wow! I literally got tears in my eyes when I saw the yard after it was finished. It is truly unbelievable! I could not be any happier with it and don’t know how to thank you guys enough. I can’t wait for David to come home and see it, too. It really is better than I could have hoped for. Thanks again, Sarah- and Tom, for all your patience and hard work with getting this together for us. It’s truly beautiful!”
“One call takes care of it all! Over the years Robbins has improved their service by creating a Team of folks that take care of anything we need done. It’s a maintenance-free way of living for retirees that want to stay in their own home.”
“Doug, Tom, Luke, Big John, Leslee and Team Members: from the moment we called, Robbins Landscaping provided a design, installation, and clean up, worked through the pouring rain and cold temperatures to complete our paver patio. With professionalism, kindness and dedication, Robbins Landscaping has created a beautiful gathering area for our family for years to come.
“Great Company! Salesmanship-no pressure, attentive to detail. Management keeps their word! Workers are excellent-willing to go that extra mile- very courteous.”
” Just a note to tell you that although there were a couple of ‘bumps’ in the scheduling and planning for our annuals, we are appreciative, as always, of the way that Robbins Landscaping looks out for our best interests.”
“We love working with Tom and will call Robbins again for our next project.”
“The crew did a wonderful job and we love the appearance of our yard.”
“I was very pleased with the friendliness of crews, their attention to small details and the care they took working around plants.”
“David and I could not be any more pleased with the work done on our yard. We very much appreciate all the assistance we received from Tom and Sarah, and appreciate their professional insight and suggestions in the planning stages. Service delivery was extremely prompt and the crew members’ attention to detail was impressive. It was a very cohesive team who far surpassed our expectations. We will definitely contract with you for all future yard work. Thanks just doesn’t say enough.”
“Sarah and Tom were very nice to work with on this project. They were good about giving professional advice but also wanted it to be a design that I would be happy with when completed. Both were very willing to adapt and make changes when I requested; they were quite patient. I smile now when I look at the front of the house, especially the English boxwood. It is so nice to have a project completed and to be happy with the end result. Tom was right when he said English boxwood were calming.”
