Meet our Team Members

Doug Robbins, Owner

Doug Robbins started Robbins Landscaping, Inc. in 1989 and has worked hard ever since to build his one-man landscaping business into a multi-faceted Landscaping Firm. After graduating from Mary Washington College with a degree in History, Doug worked for a major soft drink distributor for a few years before deciding to go out on his own doing what he loved. He has since become a Virginia Certified Horticulturist and gained invaluable experience in the Green Industry and as an entrepreneur.

At present, Doug is the primary salesperson at Robbins Landscaping and, of course, team motivator. Like any small business owner, Doug wears many hats in the business and has a knack for continually improving operations.

Aside from managing his company, Doug loves to spend time with his wife, Leigh, and their children Layne, Ella, and Jayden. He enjoys camping with his daughters at Indian Princess weekends, staying involved in his church community, playing golf and basketball, and exercising. Doug is also a proud supporter of the YMCA’s Bright Beginnings program.

Doug loves what he does for many reasons. He thoroughly enjoys the team-building aspect of running a small company and likes to cultivate a strong working relationship among his employees. He also enjoys building relationships with clients and, of course, creating and maintaining beautiful landscapes.

Tom Stuart, Designer

Tom is the resident designer and production manager here at Robbins Landscaping. He has a Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia, and is a Virginia Certified Horticulturist, a Certified Pesticide Applicator and ICPI Certified.

Tom has been with Robbins for 13 years, and has helped Doug to develop nearly all aspects of the company. Before coming to Robbins he worked for a nursery, the State Department of Conservation, and a residential landscape architect firm.

In his free time, Tom enjoys gardening and reading. His favorite aspect of working at Robbins Landscaping is goofing off with the crew members.

Chris Edwards, Landscape Maintenance Division Head

Chris has managed the Landscape Maintenance Division here at Robbins Landscaping for 3 years. He is the liaison between the company and all of our Landscape Maintenance clients, and works hard to make sure that we serve our clients to the best of our ability.

Before joining the Robbins team, Chris had worked in the Green Industry for 11 years running crews and working at a nursery.

Chris has an Associates Degree in Applied Science with a concentration in Horticulture from J. Sargeant Reynolds, he attended Ferrum College, is Virginia Certified Horticulturist, and a Certified Pesticide Applicator.

In his free time, Chris enjoys fishing and spending time with his wife, Amie, and daughter Abby.

Chris’s favorite part of working with Robbins Landscaping, Inc. is pleasing the clients and making their properties look spectacular.

Sarah Davenport, Marketing Director, Design Consultant

Sarah recently joined the Robbins Team as an intern in July of 2009. She is a recent graduate of Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Horticulture and a B.A. in History. She is a Certified Virginia Horticulturist and a Certified Pesticide Applicator.

Although she is new to the industry, Sarah has gained a great deal of experience over the past 9 months at Robbins. She helps with Sales, Design, Scheduling, Software Development, and Marketing.

In her free time, Sarah loves to spend time with her husband, Ben, and their friends and families. She also enjoys gardening, drawing, and exploring Richmond. Her favorite part of working at Robbins is the people. “I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to work with such kind and talented professionals!”
